Hello :)
This is the requested transcription I did of the Stevie Wonder song "Contusion" from his 1976 album "Songs in the Key of Life". The bass player on this track was Nathan Watts.
This transcription can be found at [ Ссылка ] under Advanced - Songs.
Contusion is a good name for this song as I think I gave myself one banging my head on the desk trying to figure out how to notate the 12/8 section. I now know (think) it's a 12/8 section, but while I was working on it, I had no idea. It took a couple of days and lots of foot tapping and counting to come to that decision. Does anyone else have an opinion on how to notate that section?
There's a ton of energy in this song. Right from the first bar it's full power. Use the half notes to catch your breath, you're going to need it ;)
I found it a little difficult to hear the bass in some spots as the drums are really busy and the tempo is quite fast for 16th notes. With a difficult and busy song like this, sometimes a 16th note can decide whether a line will flow or be playable.
This song will challenge you on many levels. From keep up with the rhythms and tempo down to having the stamina to make it through. This is a tough song. No doubt about it.
I hope you enjoy it, and for those taking in on to learn...good luck :)
Don't forget to like and subscribe and thanks for watching :)
