Sasha Guryev is a Ukrainian record collector currently based in Lisbon, Portugal (previously SF/Bay Area) and is a resident of Refuge Worldwide radio in Berlin.

With a passion for unearthing difficult-to-find records from Brazil to all over Europe and elsewhere, he is always pushing to bring lesser-known genres as well as creative and exciting sounds forward.

"During my Portuguese language studies since 2016, I encountered the music of funaná through various compilations and documentaries coming out at the time and was so enthralled by this sound that I began somewhat tirelessly digging for it here in Lisbon where many of these records were pressed and eventually moving here for its vibrant scene. I'm thankful to be able to share some of my very favourite records found here - from the familiar sounds of '80s zouk, boogie, and cosmic disco, all from PALOP countries as the intro of this mix leading into the enchanting sound of digital funaná with its synthesized accordions and drum machines."
