Right before pouring cement for a new custom home, post tension cables are installed. Each one of the cables act as steel in the slab, making the slab very strong. The cables are tensioned for about 7-10 days.

In addition to adding strength to the foundation, the post tension type of slab helps the foundation perform very well in an area where the soil has a lot of movement. Builders in San Antonio and Houston areas often utilize post tension foundations when building a new home.
