Planning a lesson is a cognitive process — a reflective process — and is not a form–filling exercise.

Teachers must always think about the bigger picture. How does your lesson plan fit into your scheme of work or the topic that you are teaching? What knowledge are students coming to the lesson with, and what would you like them to take away?

For lesson observers, we must ask WHY, not WHAT we are teaching, when we support another teacher during observation.
