This is often overlooked but here's the truth...
Where your tongue 👅rests matters more than you might think!
Your tongue should be resting on the roof of your mouth during the day and night, especially while you sleep.
But why?
Your tongue resting on the roof of your mouth helps keep your airway open and your tongue not falling back into your throat and collapsing.
When that happens we can develop snoring, we can have sleep apnea, and not be able to breathe properly.
So we really want our tongue resting on the roof of our mouth (like how I showed in this video) and breathing through our nose.
Our tongue also acts as a natural palate expander.
This is especially important for kids because we want their tongue resting up.
By having our tongue resting up, it helps expand the arches and the palate so it can grow to the fullest potential that it can. Our palate is also the floor of our nose, so the wider it is, the better we can breathe.
Where is your tongue resting right now?
