There is a believe that there is a specific window of opportunity that you can get back together with your ex or not. And if you wait too long, then you'll never get back together with your ex.

This has caused a lot of people to believe in concepts such as "breakup math" such as the idea that it will take your ex one month to get over you for every one year that you were together.

This idea is completely false because each breakup impacts an individual in a unique way. One person may bounce back quickly, while another may take more time.

So, if you believe in breakup math, then I would strongly encourage you to reconsider your belief.

So, when is it too late to get an ex back? The truth is that you can't really calculate this sort of thing, because even if your ex is over the breakup, it doesn't mean that the two of you will never get back together.

Instead, you don't want to think about your ex moving on as it being too late to get back together. I've seen many people who have gotten back together with their exes after those exes have "moved on."

The truth is that getting back together is about the emotional connection you have with your ex.

And it is only "too late" to get back together when you have closed off the possibility of connecting with your ex entirely.

This can happen through calcified hurt that forms a protective shield of bitterness or resentment.

This can happen when you are so convinced that BS advice such as "whoever cares the least controls the relationship" and you believe that playing mind games in the only path toward connection and love (hint: it is not)

And it is also too late to get back with an ex when you have become clear on what you want and what you don't want in a relationship, and your ex does not meet your own standards.

Those are really the only times that the "window of opportunity" is truly closed.

The truth of the matter is that I've seen so many people reconcile with their exes from situations that you would probably think are completely unsalvageable.

So, it's not a matter of looking from the outside and saying, yes this relationship can be saved... or no this relationship cannot be saved.

It's more of a factor of the individuals involved in the relationship.
