CT Scan plays an important role in the detection of any type of cancer. Before starting the treatment for cancer its important to understand these two important factors:

CT Scan and PET Scan In Stomach Cancer
When we talk about gastric or stomach cancer, the cancer is diagnosed with endoscopy. During this test, a doctor looks inside your stomach with a thin, lighted tube called an endoscope. The doctor guides it through your throat and down into your stomach. If the doctor sees tissue that is abnormal, he or she takes a small sample to be checked for cancer cells. This sample is called a biopsy. A pathologist looks at the sample under a microscope.
In order to check the spread of cancer, the patient needs to undergo CT Scan or PET Scan. CT Scan or PET Scan Show other parts of the body to which stomach cancer must have spread such as liver or lymph nodes. Also, it shows the stage of cancer and treatment option.
CT Scan and PET Scan helps in making treatment decisions.
What one can't detect in CT Scan or PET Scan?
Any disease less than 5mm can't be seen on a CT scan or PET Scan.
Therefore when we check CT scans or PET scans and the disease seems to be a bit visible we advise staging laparoscopy to the patient.

A good quality CT Scan and PET Scan helps in better diagnosis, therefore, undergo CT Scan or PET Scan under experienced radiologist.
