Here’s my Genelec 8010a unboxing video. The Genelec 8010a studio monitors are compact bi-amped active studio monitors that are perfect for a home studio setup for beginners. Before I dive into my Genelec 8010a review and unboxing, it’s worth mentioning that I have a set of Amphion One15s as my main studio monitors, which are very expensive monitors. I didn’t want this video to turn into a Genelec 8010a vs Amphion One15 video, as they are at two totally different price points, however I have included a short side by side comparison, mainly as I was so impressed by the Genelec’s. As far as I can tell the Genelec 8010 and Genelec 8010a are the same model, it looks like they’re just listed differently in different countries or with different vendors. Andertons in the Uk confirmed this for me.
What I’ve done in this video isn’t a particularly scientific studio monitor test, but it’s enough for you to hear the difference. If I was building my home studio again from scratch, I’d definitely consider these as my monitors
