Theoretical physicist Dr Andrew Mitchell presents an undergraduate lecture course on Classical Mechanics and Relativity at University College Dublin. This is a complete and self-contained course in which everything is derived from scratch.
In this lecture I explore some of the important consequences of the Lorentz transformations between inertial reference frames: the relativity of simultaneity, relativistic length contraction, and time dilation. I also discuss light clocks and some basic implications of relativistic effects for particle physics.
