The Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of Ukrainian as the State Language" was enacted by the Verkhovna Rada on April 25, 2019. It took effect on July 16, 2019, two months post-publication.
Before this law, the Ukrainian language's status was governed by the Law of Ukraine "On the Principles of State Language Policy".
