Summer bass fishing is in full swing and the fish are in their summer patterns. This means alot of bass have moved to deeper water to avoid the heat and eat. Ledge fishing is awesome because it means a variety of fishing lures and fishing rigs as well as catching a lot of fish - you can use anything from finesse style baits like a ned rig, shakey head, or carolina rig, to more fast moving lures like crankbaits, swimbaits, and spinnerbaits. My buddy and Lake Guntersville fishing guide Myles Murray went out on a cloudy rainy day to pattern bass on Lake Guntersville and there were a few lures that really stood out during the low pressure system and cloudy weather - a crankbait, a Carolina Rig, a swimbait, and a drop shot. IMO don't ever leave the house to go summer fishing withought tying up these 4 lures - they cover fishing a variety of activity levels as well as can be fished in open water right down into the thickest cover.
