In 2022 archaeologists from University of Leicester and Historic England returned to the recently discovered Rutland Roman villa to carry out further excavations. The aim was to investigate specific buildings and other surviving features in a number of areas across the villa complex. This work has added greatly to understanding the context of the unique Trojan War mosaic, and the room in which it is located, and the setting of other key buildings on the site, providing a clearer understanding of this fascinating archaeological site.
