Outside of selling swimwear or being a national governing body, there are few successful business enterprises in the swimming industry. David Arluck, the man behind the Fitter and Faster Swim Tour and sports management agency Arluck Promotions, has built one of them--and he's unique in the market. David's at the epicenter of the swimming biz, representing athletes with endorsements across the biggest swimwear brands, and brands outside of the traditional aquatic market. He also launched the Fitter and Faster Swim Tour in 2009, which has produced nearly 900 swimming clinics across the country hosted by some of the biggest names in the sport.
If I'm looking for swimbiz intelligence, I call David for insight. In this interview, we cover these questions:
- What aquatic companies generate the most revenue/income for pro swimmers?
- If you just graduated from college and you're an elite swimmer with no international medals, what kind of a career and income can you build?
- USA Swimming has new leadership (CEO Tim Hinchey) and a lot of new talent emerging. What can we expect, business-wise, from this new quad?
- In this age of social media some age group swimmers are stars, clearly building a following at a young age. What do they need to do (or stop doing) to ensure a long and successful career?
