The Force has gone silent galaxy-wide, plunging everything into uncertainty. Though weakened, the Sith sow chaos in the Galactic Federation and Marasiah Fel struggles tried to hold it together. Ania Solo joins her mother's quest to unseat the reigning Mandalore, while Cade Skywalker and company search for a mysterious Yuuzhan Vong Jedi who might hold the key to regaining the Force.

Departed Gods is the second in a four-volume series that picks up where the Legacy comics left off and aims to give a finale to the Skywalker saga. Whereas the first volume drew some of its plot elements from the Darth Plagueis novel, volumes two and three are going to draw on the Dawn of the Jedi era, effectively binding the beginning of the Legends timeline with its end.

In Legacy's End I had the opportunity to write a story with stakes unseen in SW before. Silencing the Force galaxy-wide throws governments, institutions, and people into uncharted territory, creating new struggles and surprising results. It also creates a chance to look at the Force itself anew. Revealing a more detailed cosmology for the Force risks stripping it of the vague mysticism that makes it appealing in the first place, but also instills the story of the Skywalker with greater importance. Hopefully it's a line I've walked successfully.
