Here’s a quick unboxing of the Panasonic Lumix GH5. While fitting the Metabones Speed Booster XL 0.64x (Nikon F-mount) Adapter to the GH5’s Micro Four Thirds mount, we found slight vignetting with the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 (Nikon F-Mount) lens. Zooming in with the lens to about 20mm eliminates the vignetting. Our zoom test also found no "locking up/freezing" issues with camera. You can skip forward to that section here: 4:05
Finally, we delve briefly in to the menu system and explore some of the cool new 4K features and exposure tools offered in the Panasonic GH5 . If you have any questions, feel free to comment below. Thanks and we hope you enjoy!
Note: This is not a review of the GH5. We are simply unboxing the camera and offering a brief overview of some of the cameras features. We noticed that many people have experienced issues with the Metabones Speedbooster/ Sigma 18-35mm combo on the Canon mount.
We believe the Nikon F-mount is the reason we are not having issues. Unlike the Canon mount (which is primarily all electronic connection) the Nikon mount utilizes a mechanical linkage. Unfortunately, this does not work with the autofocus feature in the GH5. It does however allow the in camera 5-Axis Stabilization to work with the lens.
