Polish fighter pilot Franciszek Kornicki had just arrived in England as the Battle of Britain erupted. He describes his RAF’s 303 Squadron which became the most successful squadron and was made up of experienced Polish pilots. shooting down the most enemy aircraft during the Battle. When the war ended, having bravely fought to free his country for 6 years, Franciszek was devastated that his homeland had been given to Russia as part of the Yalta agreement. He felt unable to return home, but made one exception 25 years later, to visit his mother shortly before she passed away.
