We set up three popular bookshelf speakers so our advisors could experience the difference in sound signatures: the KEF R3, ELAC Carina, and B&W 705 S2. Our advisors were able to switch between them while listening to see firsthand how different speakers can sound.
We've made some recordings of the speakers, so you can check out the difference for yourself. We suggest wearing headphones or using something other than your laptop or phone speakers to get the full effect.

Dave D. is the guy at Crutchfield who sets up these demos, and he came up with an easy way to switch between speakers while playing from the same source. The reason for this is that when our advisors recommend speakers, they have to wade through a lot of subjective information. What room will these be in? Are they on stands? What do you like to listen to? Hearing the way different manufacturers tune their speakers is a big key to helping match a customer with a pair of speakers they'll truly love.
