We take a look at how the mirrorless Nikon Z7 handles face detection with multiple people in the scene using continuous autofocus.
When multiple faces are detected, you can use the joystick to toggle between them. Once focus is initiated, the camera does a good job of sticking to that subject as long as your shutter remains half-pressed: even if that subject looks away.
This means the camera can quickly refocus on the subject when he/she looks back at the camera - important for candid portraiture, and far more useful than having the camera jump off to another face in the scene (that you did not select).
