A POET IN CHERNIHIV
For a breath of a poet,
a breeze comes round.
’Cause burn clay to bricks,
let winds borrow books!
Let burst into bloom of words
clay round the Library.
’Cause burn clay to bricks,
let rains borrow books!
Let burst into bloom of words
clay round Chernihiv.
------
The building in the style of historicism was erected in the late nineteenth century. The House of the Vasil Tarnovski Museum of Ukrainian Antiquities. It survived shelling by the Bolsheviks in 1918 and 1919. It survived in the Second World War under the bombs of the German Nazis. The Moscow Nazi horde came and ruined a very beautiful and cozy building....
