This SWFA HD 5-20x50 is a very physically well made scope. It has solid controls and a great overall feel. It might be lacking some modern features, but they can be mostly overlooked for the sub $1k pricepoint, and Japanese construction.
Unfortunately this isnt as beautiful to look through, as it is to hold an operate. The reticle has a hard time getting super sharp. The illumination is barely usable even in the darkest of environments. And the image at the higher end of the range is lacking. Especially so when you see it side by side with the competition. Comparisons are chosen on a magnification/feature/price basis. Sometimes there wont be an Exact comparison between the main optic and others. But they are all in similar enough vein.
I really hope SWFA dropped the price on these as much as they did because they are trying to clear out inventory. Hopefully they will be bringing some newer stuff to market soon that can truly compete with todays modern optics.
