Al Capone was born in 1899 to Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, New York. When he was 14 years old, he stopped attending school and started engaging in criminal activity. Beginning as a street gang member, Capone soon attracted the attention of the Five Points Gang, one of the most infamous criminal groups in New York City. Capone advanced fast through the gang's ranks and got involved in bootlegging and other illegal operations.
