1945 U.S. Navy film MN-5051J, Fury In The Pacific. This film about the battle at Pelelieu was used to sell war bonds. This is a record of an amphibious landing, a joint operation by the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, the Air Forces, and the Coast Guard. Shown for the first time, it typifies the fury and violence of war in the Pacific. Description at On the capture of Pelelieu and Angaur in the Palau Islands, enumerating the cost in lives and munitions required. Shows many scenes of dead and wounded Japanese and U.S. soldiers. Reel 1, the islands are bombarded by carrier planes, heavy bombers, and ships. The 1st Marine Div. lands on the beach of Pelelieu and advances against heavy opposition. Reel 2, the 81st Inf. Div. engages in heated battle with enemy forces on Angaur, and then assists in the capture of Bloody Nose Ridge, the last enemy stronghold on Pelelieu. Includes scenes of rescues of wounded soldiers, and shows captured enemy soldiers.
