Squash has enjoyed a unique place in the Australian sporting landscape. From the 1960s and into the 1990s, a parade of champion male and female players collected world title after world title, and at its peak one million Australians reportedly played the sport regularly.
Australia is regarded as one of the most competitive sporting markets in the world and with changing trends in how the population consume and participate in sport, Squash like many other sports has experienced a decline and faces the challenge of evolving and adapting its offerings to maintain participation and attract new markets into our great game.
Robert Donaghue was recently appointed as Squash Australia Chief Executive following a 15-year career in Sports Administration. He has held CEO & executive roles with both professional clubs and sports governing bodies with experience driving initiatives to grow and enhance community participation; managing elite teams, high-performance & pathway programs; delivering major international and national events and the day-to-day management of major sporting facilities and stadium.
