The best things to do in Amsterdam is to explore the various neighborhoods. The Jordaan district, for example, is a quiet and quaint neighborhood with some great shops and restaurants. It's also one of the best places to find some unique Dutch shopping. A street art tour in NSDM and STRAAT Museum will take you through some of the hidden gems off the beaten path.

The Anne Frank House is given high priority on many people's Amsterdam "to-do" list. The line can be incredibly long, so you might want to consider buying your tickets online if you think you might visit. I also recommend getting the audio guide for this museum as it gives you a more in-depth look into the lives of these people and their harrowing escape.
