This is Part One of what will be my Six Part, 40th Anniversary Filming Locations Tour.
Here you will see the Coney Island location where the movie begins, right at the Stillwell Train Station. You will then see Riverside Park, Manhattan. In the movie it says the Big Meeting takes place at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx but it really happens at Riverside Park. This is the exact spot where the Conclave between all the major gangs in The Network took place. The one Cyrus called to form one giant gang to take over NYC. An attempt to dominate Crime in all the five boroughs.
During the meeting Cyrus is assassinated and his ambitious plan was never put into action (In those days he got off east if you ask me). The police then raid the conclave and almost everyone makes a run for it. That is when The Warriors are setup and framed with the murder. The Riffs take down Cleon and will soon put out a bounty on the rest of them.
