On Sunday night May 15, 2022 a Total Lunar Eclipse was visible from Arizona and across the United States. The eclipse was also visible from North America, South America, Europe and Africa. A total lunar eclipse occurs when a full moon passes into the Earth's shadow. Light from the sun still indirectly hits the moon turning it blood red because Earth's atmosphere scatters all the colors of light except red and orange which get refracted onto the moon's surface. These pictures were taken in Chandler, Arizona from 7:50 PM - 11:00 PM (MST). All of these pictures were taken by me through my telescope.
