Why are so many people now referring to themselves as "Sapiosexuals," especially on online dating sites?
What is a sapiosexual? The term "sapiosexual" refers to a person who is primarily attracted to or aroused by intelligence. At first, sapiosexuality might not seem like too ridiculous of a concept since intelligence is generally a desirable trait. However, having a preference does not equate to an entire new sexual orientation.
People who claim to be "sapiosexual" would have us believe that they're wired so differently from the average person that it merits its own descriptor. In reality, if this were true, it would be pretty inconvenient and possibly debilitating.
Like most social media trends, the idea of being "sapiosexual" is just something people throw around because they badly want other people to think that they're intelligent, deep and generally superior.
