Vancouver Island native, Dr. William Carpentier, was NASA’s flight surgeon for Apollo 11. NASA was concerned astronauts could bring back moon germs, so Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins were locked up in a Mobile Quarantine Facility for 18 days- and Dr. Carpentier was there with them.
