Volume Up 🔊 ! In this video, I do an orchestral mockup of the first minute of the Star Wars Main Title, using ONLY Muse Sounds, the free orchestral sample library that comes with it.
I'm really impressed that something of this quality came out of a FREE 💵 LIBRARY and within a NOTATION PROGRAM 🎵 ! The only mixing I did was volume balancing within MuseScore, where I brought down the volume of the woodwinds, percussion, piano and harp parts to match the rest of the orchestra, allowing for a relatively balanced overall sound.
This, I feel, is comparable to NotePerformer in terms of notation software-based mockups, if not better in terms of quality of samples, though there are some areas where NP shines out more, such as accuracy of short articulations and out-of-the-box balance.
This is making me pumped up all the more for MuseScore 4.1 and NotePerformer 4. Will mockups made with MS4.1 and NP4 + Dorico replace the tedious process of MIDI event editing within a DAW? We'll see in the next few months (or years)! 🤩
May the 4th be with you:) Do like and subscribe if you like to see this kind of content (stay tuned for more cinematic mockups)! I'll be uploading this kind of content alongside my contemporary compositions (I'm still learning).
