Croatia is best known for summer holidays along its pristine coastline, but the capital is promoting itself as a winter destination in the weeks leading up to Christmas. A packed 'Advent in Zagreb' programme is attracting growing numbers of visitors and has helped the city win the title of 'Best Christmas Market' in a poll of more than 100,000 travellers on a European tourism website.
