A popular traditional indian sweet made using boiled chana dal.
CHANA DAL HALWA
Ingredients
1 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked and boiled
¼ cup pure ghee
A few saffron strands + for garnishing
½ cup grated khoya
½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
½ cup sugar
2 tablespoons sliced pistachios
8-10 cashewnuts, halved
2 tablespoons almond slivers
Method
1. Heat a non-stick pan. Add Bengal gram along with its water and stir.
2. Add ghee and mix well. Add saffron, mix and cook for 5-6 minutes or till the mixture reduces to half.
3. Add khoya, mix and cook till it melts. Add cardamom powder and sugar, mix and cook till sugar dissolves.
4. Add pistachios, cashewnuts and almonds, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes..
5. Garnish with saffron strands and serve hot.
