Fiji September 2019.

After lunch we departed Oarsmans bay for the Mamanuca island group and onto the miniature South Sea Island 🏝 which can be circumnavigated in 3 minutes by foot 🚶‍♂️.

After a spectacular sunset 🌅 right in front of our beachfront bure’ we had dinner 🍽 and topped the night off with a beach bonfire 🔥.

The following morning we were up early for our Sea Spray Adventure. And it was exactly that! With heavy winds 💨 causing rough seas 🌊 we had to skip our village tour which was inaccessible in our sail boat ⛵️. We were able to squeeze in more time on Monuriki island 🌴 where Tom Hanks was stranded in the film Castaway.

After reaching the island I decided to do some exploration, and hiked 🥾 my way up to a high cliff when I took in the magnificent view of the island below and the surrounding area.

Afterwards we had a bbq 🍗 on the boat and headed to Mana island to await our ferry ⛴ to take us back to Port Denerau on the mainland.

The following morning we decided to spend our last half day in Fiji before our flight ✈️ exploring the area around Nadi. We started off at the local Nadi Temple 🙏 which is the biggest Hindu temple in the region for the large population of Indo-Fijians, descendants of migrant workers brought to Fiji in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s by the British empire as cheap labour for the sugar cane plantations 🌱.

Following that we made our way to the beautiful Sleeping Giant orchard gardens, the get a feel for the tropical flora 🌺 endemic to the wet tropical highlands of Fiji.

And before we knew it it was time to say goodbye 👋 to this beautiful paradise 🏝 that we had spent 2 weeks exploring. We discovered a lot but as always with travelling 🧳 there is room for another visit someday..
