We have bought A LOT of gear over the years, most of it fairly expensive. Most backpacking gear can be pretty costly, but there are definitely some items you can get on the cheap! We WISH we would have gotten some of these a lot sooner!! No reason to spend $350+ on a three season down jacket, or $100 on a water filter. Learn from our mistakes!
