This first attempt at scoring for film is by no means finished yet... I still want to add more in terms of variety, but I'd still like to share it at this point.
This composition is my first real attempt at scoring for film or making an OST composition. I created this short composition for my son's animation series, and he actually created the melody for it! For the bulk of the orchestral instruments sounds I used BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover that I acquired for FREE by simply filling out a survey.

Im generally really impressed at the sound it produces for scoring film, particularly the horn section that is incredibly rich and well sampled. I also have EW Hollywood Composer Cloud (which is no slouch) and this held up well considering it was free. I used the EW instruments where the BBC SO Discover didnt offer that sound (ie. Piano, Stormdrums, Choir), but the bulk of the heavy lifting was done by the BBC SO Discover plugin. My DAW is Presonus Studio One. Please subscribe if you like the composition as I'll be posting the 'making of' video shortly!
You will notice some hip hop electronica breaks in this composition, it was a deliberate sound fusion that I wanted to create that matched the usage for animation...
