We are going to talk about the care which is needed after wisdom tooth extraction. Now the moment of wisdom tooth extraction is done a cotton will be placed inside your mouth and you're supposed to bite firmly on it to create pressure. You keep it for 30 minutes so that the blood can clot and after that remove the cotton you can throw it. Have something cold and soft to eat like an icecream and take the painkillers and the medicine presribed. Once that is done you should take cold and soft diet for the next 24 to 48 hours and ideally on the opposite side so that not to disturb the clot there. Avoid vigorous gargling at least for 24 to 48 hours so that the clot does not get dislodged. Avoid smoking, heavy exercises and anything which is very hot inside the mouth. You should also have ice application on the same side. The ice application should be done from the outside. That has to be done only for the first 24 hours that really reduces the swelling and the discomfort associated with extraction. You should avoid brushing vigorously gargling vigorously and anything which is hot and hard next 24 to 48 hours. Take the medicines which are prescribed to you which will be mostly antibiotics painkillers and something to reduce swelling. You should ideally take rest for two to three days. But if there is important event you can continue with that. The suture removal will be done after seven days. Now let's talk about how to prevent a dry socket. The best thing which you can do to prevent dry socket is listen to your doctor follow the instructions. Avoid smoking because smoking dislodges the clot. Avoid sucking on straws for beverages. It is best to take the beverages directly with the glass. Follow the instructions. Have cold and soft diet. Avoid hot and hard food and if you ask me tips for faster healing they would be stay hydrated, take the medicines, follow the instructions and rest.
