There’s no better place to start out than a drive through Farmington’s downtown historic district. For me, when I think of this area, Oakland Street is one of the first that comes to mind. With beautiful homes situated on larger than expected lots, award winning schools and close to everything, you couldn’t ask for much more in a place to call home.
Now onto another topic near and dear to my heart - food. Today I’m stopping into one of my favorites for breakfast, MI Mosa. Owned and operated by two brothers with over 20 years of fine dining and culinary experience under their belts, MI Mosa opened in 2016 and take great pride in supporting local. The walls are covered with artwork for sale from local artists and the menu is also filled with locally sourced foods. Speaking of which, the food is outstanding. As an honorable mention, 2 Roses Family Restaurant is also one of my go-tos and their crepes cannot be beaten. It’s important to mention that both MI Mosa and 2 Roses are also open for lunch and dinner and come highly recommended.
One of my favorite activities as a boy was going sledding with my family at the Shiawassee Sledding Hill, otherwise known as Sorrows Sledding hill, given its proximity to Sorrows Catholic School & Church. Unfortunately, there was no snow at the time of shooting this video, so I’ll have to plan my return for later. Nevertheless, this is a fantastic place to bring the kids and spend some time outdoors in the winter before heading downtown to grab a bite to eat, see a show, or shop at the local boutiques.
Speaking of food, you can’t go wrong with a juicy burger from The Rolling Stoves. For an assortment of what they offer, pick up a flight of burgers. Or, grab one of their burgers of the month for something special. I particularly enjoy their PB&B burger with butter-seared beef, melted American cheese, creamy peanut butter, honey, crispy bacon, tomato, caramelized onions & pickles. Trust me when I say it is A-MA-ZING. If you’re hosting a party, they also do catering. Definitely check them out.
