Kumail Nanjiani worked out with Grant Roberts, a former Mr. Canada and trainer, in order to prepare for his role as Kingo. For three months straight, Nanjiani would exercise five days a week at the Granite Gym in Beverly Hills, aiming to gain 20 pounds of muscle while wearing EMS equipment to help target muscles. But Nate Moore, the producer of Eternals, said Kumail got too muscular for Kingo, and they had to scale back his workouts. According to the producer, the actor got a bit too shredded, as he was supposed to be a movie star, not a bodybuilder.
