There is more to Normandy than just WWII memorials. Plenty more, in fact. I recently had the privilege to go spend a day in the north of France, and got to spend a few hours in Étretat. I had never heard of this beautiful coastal town, and was surprised to hear of all the fun history behind this charming place.
French impressionist, Claude Monet, has painted over 50 landscape portraits in this region. In fact, many impressionist painters of the era came to Étretat to depict it's beauty. If that wasn't enough, the famous French author, Maurice Leblanc, wrote the vast majority of his Arsène Lupin novels in his home right in the heart of the town.
We'll be back in the near future, and will cover more of the fun attractions that, sadly, we could not explore this time around.
