Dr. Bruce Perry is Senior Fellow of the Child Trauma Academy in Houston. This talk is from the Roots of Empathy 2015 Research Symposium. He talks about relational poverty - children in typical families today have 1/20th of the direct interpersonal interactions that a child in a hunter/gatherer society would have. "Which child," he asks, "is likely to be more empathetic, a better citizen of his community and clan?" Fascinating perspective.
