As always a bit fun just to see what was possible.
This obligatory QSO came about after finished filming the "How to make the most out of your 817- the RFgain" I listened and tried my luck with little power and massive losses.
The 1 watt of RF energy from the FT-817nd had to pass through a vintage KW1000 linear amp (switched off and unplugged) and a Palstar AT2K tuner in bypass mode out up to the feedpoint of the 80m/40m nest of dipoles on the 9 meter pump up mast.
Very impromptu band allowing QSO I decided to "Give it the bigun" {English slang for go over the top} with one watt and see what was possible.
A huge thanks to Allan and the team behind GB1100FSB for putting the special event station, their excellent antenna system had a huge part in this bit of fun with the radio.
The special event station was celebrating 1100 years since the Foundation of the borough of Stafford.
I hope your team make many QSOs over all the bands during the duration of your event.
