Animation (timelapse) of the 2012 hurricane season, with the first storm forming in mid-May, and the last storm dissipating by the end of October. Imagery from GOES-12, and at some points the GOES-13 satellite. Some parts of the video appear shaky and difficult to follow due to lack of imagery. This animation consisted of nearly 1,300 images taken from the satellites throughout the year, and includes annotations of storm location and strength as per post-season analysis. This means that Hurricane Ernesto appears as a Category 2 storm, and Hurricane Sandy appears as a Category 3 storm.
