In the delicate and tender cantata 'Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen', performed by the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach, the soul enters into dialogue with Jesus. The associated gospel text is about the twelve-year-old Jesus, who escapes his parents and is only found several days later in the temple. The soul can be interpreted as the Virgin Mary who has lost her child, but also as a human soul that has lost its connection to Jesus.
