Megan Hourican was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in December of 2009. She spent four years avoiding certain foods, taking multiple medications, and missing out on everyday, "normal" activities in order to fight the chronic condition. When Megan's IBD became increasingly challenging to manage during her freshman year of college, she chose to pursue a two-step, curative surgery at Boston Children's Hospital's IBD Center.
