Rode in a hurry to arrive faster at my destination and made a dumb decision to cross tram tracks at a too acute angle on a cold evening after rain, which lead me to crash at a slow speed. Fortunately, all cars were at a standstill. No one was hurt, including me.
Learn from my mistake. Years back when I took my riders course to get my drivers/riders license I was told that such a crossing could lead to a crash, so I always paid particular attention to crossing tram tracks. That evening I was in a hurry and for a moment forgot to analyze the angle I was about to cross the tracks at, which lead to this crash. In hindsight, just after the crash, it felt super dumb, cause as soon as I hit the ground I knew exactly why I'm there...
I was fully geared up in my adventure boots, textile pants, and jacket, as well as leather gloves and helmet, so I did not even have any bruises or pain whatsoever. For someone without appropriate riding gear, such a small crash could've ended with some unpleasant bruises and probably a visit to the traumatology unit for a checkup. With appropriate gear, I just stood back up, checked the bike, and rode safely on like nothing ever happened. So, everyone, please always wear your riding gear.
