In the world of medicine, it’s often a battle of East versus West. It’s a black and white debate of whether ancient eastern medicine, which relies on holistic methods such as acupuncture, can be as beneficial as traditional western medicine. But, a fairly new specialty at Essentia Health in Fargo, is helping East meet West and the patient is the one that benefits.

“Integrative health focuses on treating the whole person. We look at body, mind and spirit and not just physical health,” says Essentia Health integrative health specialist Dr. Kate Kessler. “We’re looking at a lot of different things like diet, exercise, mental health, emotional health and environmental factors.”
