How to find a good local dentist?

It is a simple question, but it is a long answer to respond.
Just like anything else, you need to do some research about the office by searching on Google, not Yelp for dentistry. I'll tell you why later. You must check out their website, you must evaluate the doctor's portfolio (his or her patient cases with before and after photos). If you see there is no indication that his or her name on the photos, those are probably not his or her works. Since this is the era of internet, a lot of photos of dental cases can be obtained through the other sources, therefore everyone can have some photos to put on their website but the photos can be from another dentist's work. So be sure to check out the doctor name on the photos. Good and experienced doctor should have plenty of cases to show off.
Remember, in the medical and dental field, experience is the most important factor to differentiate top doctors and top dentists.
Regarding to Yelp, most people don't know how Yelp's "Behind The Scene" business work, they are not aware that Yelp pretty much trapped or framed dentists and many professional owners to pay for their advertising service every month to keep their Yelp online reputation ranking high.
We are different, we have refused to pay Yelp for their service, so they filtered all of our good reviews and leave bad reviews. If you check out bottom line where it said "the filtered reviews", you would see many five stars being filtered. Yelp is practicing an unfair game!!! Therefore we don't work with them. This is the reason why you see most services on Yelp have really good reviews because the owners are paying for their advertising through Yelp . So it gave you a confusing choice who to chose for your complex dental care. Now, if you simply look for a family dentist, no problem, it is Okay to go to most average dentist. But when it comes to major dental care such as implant, braces, cosmetic dentistry and full mouth reconstruction you must know if the doctor has enough experience to handle your complex case. The other factors such as school, training are just credential information but does not tell you how good they are clinically. This is just my opinion.
