New Zealand authorities have declared a state of emergency in the country's largest city, Auckland, after heavy rain caused widespread flooding.
Up to 250 millimeters (10 inches) of rain fell during the day on Friday, with more rain expected from night to Saturday.
Emergency services are faced with a huge number of calls for help.
Local media reports that fire brigades have processed more than 1,000 calls for help.
The New Zealand Defense Force is also helping with evacuations.
Videos have been posted online showing water flooding residential buildings.
Roads were flooded, resulting in severe disruption to traffic.
On Friday evening, transit authorities closed sections of State Highway 1, the main thoroughfare that runs through the city.
Flash floods forced the closure of the city's airport, with all flights canceled until at least noon Saturday.
The downpour also led to power outages at homes and businesses.
Amid the chaos, British star Elton John's concert at the city's stadium was canceled shortly before it began.
Around 40,000 people were expected to attend the evening's concert, and thousands were already there when the event was cancelled.
Authorities are forecasting heavy rainfall in various parts of Auckland for at least the next five days.
