On February 15, 2015, the Archbishop of Olinda petitioned Rome to open the cause for the canonization of Archbishop Helder Camara, who had died in 1999. The Vatican responded 10 days later, and on April 7, he was declared “Servant of God.”
Deemed “the Red Archbishop” for a pro-communist speech he delivered in 1969, Abp. Camara was so steeped in the revolutionary ideologies of Marx that it is impossible to see how he could even be considered for “sainthood.” But his disdain for the teachings of the Church far outpaced his love of Marxism.
In this episode of the A-Team, I’ll be joined by my good friend Raymond De Souza, who will not only explain why this canonization should be immediately halted, but how we might make that happen.
