Transcript: Thanks to a federal transit grant, six new battery-electric buses will soon be helping our efforts to reduce emissions. Funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we will be receiving $5.7 million from the Federal Transit Administration’s Low-and-No Emission program. The money will go toward replacing six diesel buses with the battery-electric versions. It will also help to train GoDurham staff on how to maintain and operate new clean bus technology. Nationwide, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provides $5.5 billion over five years for the Low-No Program and nearly $2 billion over five years for the Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program. This year’s funding alone will nearly double the number of no-emission transit buses on the country’s roadways. More information about the programs can be found at the websites listed on your screen.
