Collard Greens in Bloom. Collard greens are bienniel plants and typically sown during the fall, for fall and winter consumption. The seeds can be saved if the plant is left to bloom in the spring.
A blooming collard green is vivid. Bright yellow colors adorn long stems that produce seed pods once the flowers expire. Seeds can be saved and planted in the following fall for more collard greens and more spring flowers the following year.
Collards can be grown in full sun to partial shade and hardy in zones 6 to 11. Collards are hardy through mild winters.
